Peculiar Park Place
We are safely parked at the above location. We have been very lucky in our travels in having great travel weather. We do plan for it on occasion I will admit. But yesterday we came through Kansas City in moderate to heavy rain. We made it without incident. It makes for a more tense trip.
We made the short jaunt (2 miles) to Gary and Susan's place to help with the kiddoes since Nana Susan was in charge of them.
Elise wanted me to play with her and since I did not want to be thought of as a grumpy old lady I obliged. We played doctor visit, tic tac toe, and read several books. Then she wanted to get on the computer to "Check her email". I didn't know if she was allowed to be on Papa Gary's computer so I feigned ignorance about turning it on. She hollered at her Nana Susan to come turn on the computer because Grandma Barbara does not know how. So she did. We were doing a few things that really did not interest her much and then we looked at pictures. Every time she saw a picture of Gary she said, "There is Papa Gary who knows how to turn on his computer". She said this EVERY time. I do believe I was "zinged" by a 3 year old.
Baby Leo is growing fast and weighs 20 lbs at 6 months. He is such a cutie and so good natured. He is as mild and laid back as his older sister is wired and springy.

Spotty
Posts could be a bit spotty from now until we are in South Texas.
Yesterday we were in northern Iowa for a visitation with friends and family of our friend Dale Cooklin. Dale and his wife Norma were very involved with many of the events we were a part of in Magnolia Park. One of our subgroup would go to the hall before each event to place our dinnerware so we could all sit together. So this was a hard loss to deal with and we will miss him at every turn.
Because of the close proximity, we were able to get a nice visit with sis Marlene and Bernard and their daughter-in-law Sara. Also very lucky to have Marlene's apple crisp served to us with a dollop of ice cream. Yum!
In the morning we will be headed for Missouri- Peculiar to be specific- and we will be spending the weekend with our Missouri kids. From there we will be going to Big Cabin OK for servicing of the motorhome and then on to Llano TX so Butch can play some more bad golf. To hear him tell he has not played well for a whole year. You cannot believe everything that man tells you. He just forgets the good ones and agonizes over the bad ones. And then we will be headed to the Rio Grande Valley for another winter of warm and wonderful..
The internet connections may not be sufficient until we get back in our winter spot. In the past we have had Verizon. Even though it was not great at times it was okay enough to get posts done on the road. We no longer have that so now it is a crap shoot. There is Wifi at the Peculiar Park and at the Llano Park and it has been our experience in both places that it is spotty at best.
I have plans to write offline and then post when I can but the best laid plans can often go askew so stand by for further info...
We have things here that need wrapped up so goodbye for now and we will see you on down the road.

Lost a friend
We are now in the motorhome and we think we are all moved in. We have till Friday morning to decide if we have forgotten some vital thingamajig. Sure hope it occurs to us in time whatever it might be.
It has been an unusual week. Our longtime friend Dale Cooklin passed away on Monday. We knew he had some health issues but had no idea he would be going so soon. One thing Dale managed to do for all his friends was create memories. If you were a friend of Dale you have a Dale story and most likely more than one. You could ask Butch about his day in Mexico with Dale. It is a long story with several chapters. When Dale was around something was going to happen of that you could be sure. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Today's big adventure
We are loading up the RV with the necessaries for the next 5-6 months. We are doing this for the first time in 10 years. This is reason enough to be full timers!! We started this morning and we will be staying in the RV until we are on the road. This gives us plenty of time to think and discover items we may have overlooked. The plan was to duplicate as many items as possible. A complete duplication of everything is two fold- not practical and too costly. It could be easier if I did not have this vision in my mind of a week long blizzard where the electricity is off completely. That means we have to keep in mind the many items that might freeze and be a problem. Am I the only one who thinks of this? For instance- I said you will want to remember the icemaker on the fridge. Butch reminds me the heat will be on. I remind him there could be a blizzard and the electricity not on would freeze its little water supply pipe. He says "Oh". Sometimes Life feels very complicated. Too many things to think about...and still I suspect we will forget something.

Great Pictures-from others
I did not take either of these pictures but I think they are special. The top one is a picture of Brady, Leo and Keri's grandson, in a combine. There is a large part of the population who has never seen this view and that alone makes it special and then the fact that it is Brady ups the value.
The one below was taken by a fellow RVer. This is the sort of shot that could never be staged. The composition is superb.
Can Hardly Wait
Can hardly wait for what you say? To get to the land of fresh veggies all year round. I have had to give up on tomatoes(:-(, very sad face, because of canker sores in my mouth. This recipe sounded appealing to me.
Beanie Rice Salad
When you begin with an interesting rice mix you have a head start on a unique rice salad. Low-fat yogurt shaves fat calories while upping the calcium content. The raw vegetables can be varied if you wish: substitute celery, seeded cucumber, grated carrot, tomato and so on.
1 box or packet of cheese, broccoli and rice mix
15-ounce can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
15-ounce can of cut green beans, drained
Medium green bell pepper, seeded and diced
Medium red sweet pepper, seeded and diced
Medium sweet onion, peeled and diced
2 cartons, 8 ounces each, of lemon flavored yogurt
While the rice mix cooks according to package directions, prepare vegetables. Mix vegetables and rice. Fold the first carton of yogurt into a mixture, then add more yogurt to taste. Serve now or chilled, as is or on a bed of lettuce. Serves six as a main dish.

Morning walk...yeah, I did.
I walked the route this morning because they predicted wind. I knew if I didn't get right to it I would put it off so I donned a hooded sweatshirt and my camera and took off at 7:15 AM. I shot some great photos but it still seemed very long. It is amazing how short it becomes with company.

Who Knew??
Who knew it was going to be an unusual day. Yesterday they called to tell us our chairs would be delivered on the 10th. Great news as we will be able to head south on the 18th and most likely will do so. So Jason was coming over to help his Dad get the old chairs out of the moho so the new ones can go in. Jason called to say he was coming over and Laura was coming with him to walk the course and did I want to go with them. I thought it a good photo op so decided to go with them. I was bemoaning the fact we had not seen a train as I planned to get a good shot of one. The golf course is perilously close to the track. Finally here comes a coal train and we are in the right place.

Right after I took this shot a severe percussion took place and my left ear hurt! What happened was a failure of a brake system between two train cars. Suddenly there was a separation in the middle of the train as two cars started spreading apart and brakes were squealing and burning! Never have I seen this before!

After golf we decided to eat at 209 Main in Paton Iowa. We all enjoyed a great meal and when leaving the area we notice a big fire and drove by to check it out. Still not sure what it was all about but it looked like a very large pile of corn stalks burning. I think it may have been intentional. I do not get good night pics so won't post that one. 2013 Jefferson All School Reunion Banquet Pictures
These pictures reflect the essence of the whole event in my opinion. These are all people reconnecting with their friends, their youth and their roots. And it shows them having a very good time. This event is held every 10 years and they are all good but this one was very well done. We did not attend the last one and who knows if we will be here for the next one. This was fun.
