And now...

Do you know what happens after a week of frenetic activity when you are over 80 and nearly 80? Yup, the crash! Butch has a cold/allergies and I woke up this morning with an earache and stiff neck. But then it is the weekend and time for some downtime.

Our chairs were delivered yesterday and one has a "kink" in it. It makes a clunky noise when fully extended. The Lacks store is sending a technician on Monday to either fix it or order a new one. So far they are saying the right things. We do have hope they will follow through.

Butch played golf this morning and Bev called to see if I wanted to play pool. I took a Tylenol and said "Yes". It went well...considering.

So back to resting, napping, and taking it easy. Well, and fixing supper.

Unsettled

Still working on getting everything done. Yesterday we had a water heater leak and a broken connection. In asking around most people call Saul and we did as well. It is fixed. The clothesline broke and needed restrung. Got it done but that was anything but pleasant. Late in the day, 4:00 pm, we went to Lowes to get the supplies for the computer desks. Late in the day in South Texas is not a good time to be out and about. And now that we have been reminded we will do our best to not do that again.

In the motorhome with all of our belongings in place, it would still take about a week to get fully acclimated. This year it is going to take at least a week and a half and that is peddling as fast as I can. I do hope it gets better after all the things involved in any move get resolved.

I now have two lists-things to bring from Iowa to Texas and things to take from Texas back to Iowa. There are not many things on the list...yet.

Our chairs will be delivered tomorrow.😁

Oh, I have yet to make it to the pool hall.😏

Settling in continued...

I suppose, I might be fussy about where I sit because I have not been happy with the places to sit yet. I need Butch's help to get out of the recliner if I use it and I cannot seem to get comfy on the couch. That was true last Spring when we were here for a couple of weeks so buying new recliners was on our to-do list. yesterday was the day for shopping.

Our first stop was Buy, Buy Baby as I had researched them online. I insisted on a seat test and am so glad I did. I continued to have the exit problem. It seems you need a lot of leg power to exit the current batch of new recliners. We weren't in that store long. Then we tried Ashleys. Found one but only one that was sort of suitable. I could get out of it easily and the price was right but it was a distressed brown color and a bit bulky. So we moved on to Lacks. We walked in and found what we wanted at first sight. It was a bit more than we would have liked to spend but we took the plunge. We bought two and they will be delivered Friday. This is what we purchased and the color seems right in the picture as well. It is dark grey. Everything about it met our needs.

The next stop was Lowes to find a board to do a computer desk similar to what we have in Jefferson and big enough to accommodate both of us. We found it and Butch may go back today to make that purchase. We are getting our nest all fixed to suit us and it isn't taking long at all.

So far all of these things have been on our list to get taken care of asap.

Next stop- The Pool Hall!

Progress?

I think we are making progress. Last night I was able to declutter the kitchen table to the point of being able to see it! It is coming along. We bought a TV for the bedroom and Butch was able to get it up and running.

I have started cooking at home. Our digestive systems are getting adjusted to the new way and the best way of eating. Truth be known, when eating out you really don't know what you are injecting into your body. So all is well.

Today we are going to the Buy, Buy Baby store to look for recliners. We want small ones to better fit our space and they sell small ones designed for nurseries. I usually have no problem ordering things online but this is one time I want to sit-test it.

The weather has been ideal. Low 80's for highs, low 50's for lows. We do need rain. That seems to be the theme for most of the USA.

So better get back to settling in. Till next time...
