Fine Tuned

My computer skills are getting honed to a razor sharp edge the past couple of days. Norma C. has a new Chromebook and I did what I could to get it ready for her ahead of time so that when she signed on to it things would appear to her like her old computer as much as possible. She was already a Chrome user so that took care of 95% of it. She signed into it this morning and things looked familiar to her and she was tickled pink. So was I! She plans to come to Jefferson in the near future so I can show her some things she may not be aware of and I look forward to that and perhaps lunch at the Teagarden.

Last night was computer lesson night at the library and we had a very productive lesson. That does not always happen. We worked on making groups in our gmail contacts, organizing files and folders in Google Drive, transferring files and folders to Google Drive and other tidbits here and there. They kicked us out past 8:00 and were wishing we were gone already. I told them next time to give us a 5 minute warning and we will be out on time. I did it with a well meant smile.

Colleen left her computer with me for cleanup and maintenance while she was gone for a few days. So yesterday I was immersed in that project. Believe it or not, it is on my list of 'Fun Things To Do'. Many do not believe that, but it is true.

Looking through old photos

With Rich being here I began a search for specific photos I knew I had. Of course I didn't find the ones talked about but I have found many others of course and decided to post a few of them.
One of my first computer classes held in the Senior Center in Cumberland Iowa. The year was probably around 1998 or 1999.
Ethan Morlan This is such a 'good little boy having fun' picture!

The Brooker's and the Gordon's having fun on New years Eve when we all had a Panora Iowa address.

Jason  in his high school years.
Rich in his high school years.

And now for a Senior Center story... The ladies of the Senior Center were lamenting not having a man and remarking that a good man was hard to find. I said, "No they're not. You can buy one on the Internet for around a hundred dollars. So some ladies pooled their money and bought Justin...Justin Case.
Here is Justin entertaining us with Christmas carols.
And here is Justin with his gal pals, Fern Cripe, Shirley Armstrong and Barb Brooker.
And when the school band came to the center to entertain us, Justin photobombed them!

And here he is again playing the piano. One early morning when the milkman delivered the milk , Justin scared the bejeebers out of him and he hadn't said a word.

Grandma Zimmerle had seven children and here are six of them. Missing from the group is the oldest Aunt Mae. Front row- L to R. Uncle Phil, Uncle Ray, Aunt Fern or Mom to me. Back row L to R Aunt Vivian, Uncle Jack and Uncle Harold.

Phew! behinder I am!

Georgia son Rich came for a visit and we had a great time! Jason and Laura came over too. A & W was our lunch spot choice because it is a favorite of Rich's and 3 of the 5 of us ordered rootbeer floats. They looked yummy but I chose a less caloried choice and Mr Pickypants doesn't like them. He likes root beer and he likes ice cream just not together.

After lunch we took a ride in the Belltower and it was the perfect day for it-sunny and clear. I did forget my camera and my phone, however Chris H. who was so kind to take us up outside usual hours did take a group photo of us and said she would send it to me and as soon as she does, you can be sure I will post it here.

Then we came back to our house and had dessert that Keri had prepared for us. Pecan Pie and Strawberry/Rhubarb pie. Super delicious! Meant to take pictures of them too because they looked as good as they tasted but I have found that when I get caught up in the action I forget all about my camera.
After dessert we gathered in the new room (wonder how long we will call it that) for an afternoon of lively conversation and reminiscences.
It was a great day all around and we enjoyed it thoroughly!

And now for some pictures I have taken recently...
I walked over to Mickey's night before last and spotted these roses a foot or two off the sidewalk. I think it is one of my better shots of the summer.

This house belongs to a hoarder. The people do not live here but I understand that they own several houses like this and they are all packed full of collected "treasures". So much so that you can not walk through the place. Colleen thinks it looks like Sleeping Beauty's home. Somebody needs to wake that girl up!!

Finally a walk

We finally managed to get a walk in even thought it was a bit too chilly. The sunrise was very pretty but soon thereafter the clouds rolled in. This mornings photo offerings.

Poetry Out Loud

Colleen started a poetry group several years ago and yesterday the members presented a program at the museum. Chuck Offenberger, President of the historical society emceed the program. I was very impressed by the quality and professionalism of the poems. These women know their stuff!

Colleen reads a few of her amazing poems.
I thoroughly enjoyed the program and it did what poetry is supposed to do, make you think.
