Question: What kind of RV unit should a person buy?
Our answer:
We have just been through the research and it seems the right choice is what
fits each individual. We ended up with a 32' Holiday Rambler Motorhome and
we are very happy with it. Our friends kept saying we should go with a 5th
wheel but they were all farmer types and already had their pick-ups. Buying
the 5th wheel and the pickup was more bucks than we wanted to invest at one
time. One fella said to us that it boils down to what you want to drive when
you get there.
Do your research and you'll end up happy with your decision.
We are 23 months away from full timing but we practice for a month every
winter. We can hardly wait to be full time full-timers!

We have been making plans toward retirement and things are shaping up nicely. All that is left to do is sell the house and make mail arrangements. The rest of it is either in place or we know how we are going to handle it. Like the Internet connection, we plan to connect through Directway which will be satellite tv and Internet connection together. It is doable now but I have hopes the price will come down soon.

A few years ago (1998) I found a website where a newly retired couple had decided to full time RV. I followed them via their postings and became intrigued with what they had chosen to do. My husband shared my enthusiasm so we started looking into what we would need to do to emulate their lifestyle. We read books on the subject, newsgroups on the net and talked to people about their experiences with various types of RV’s. Prior to this decision we were not avid campers and we are still not. That is way too much hauling in and out for me. But living in an RV full time is far different from weekend camping.
So…after all of our reading we had an offer for a 32’ Holiday Rambler Vacationer fall into our laps so we went for it. We are still 23 months away from full timing but we practice every year for a month in the winter.

We have the groundwork laid and all we have left to do is change our Internet connection and our mail delivery system. I thought that having this place on the net would be a great way to stay in touch with a number of people and another advantage is that it is then a choice to come visit.

I plan to post our preparations leading up to our takeoff.
