Dr. Visit

So yesterday was my first doctor appointment to make sure I have an MD to call my own when we are making our home in the RGV. Butch has his appointment on the 30th. My enlarged bile duct is in good hands with Dr. Liezet Cepeda MD. We had a nice discussion and I like her. She is young and knowledgeable. She will be referring me to a GI doc and will be notifying me of the details when she has them. Butch's appointment with her will be on the 30th.

The first responders in this park have everyone fill out a medical information sheet, place it in a red envelope and leave it in an easy-to-find spot in case of emergency. They suggest on your refrigerator. In the motorhome, we have it on the visor. They also advise making a copy and putting it in the glove compartment of your vehicle. I have found it to be a very good thing to have. I have taken mine with me whenever I have a medical appointment and they are always grateful to get it. It speeds up the process of getting to the doctor. Have you ever sat in a waiting room, filling out many sheets of paper, forgetting many things that might be important, and wishing you could skip that part? Butch usually has me do it. But having that sheet of paper makes it very easy for all concerned.

I have been trying to get a useable form to put on here so all could have a copy if they want it. So far I haven't been able to. A recent Microsoft update is playing havoc with my computer...at least I think that is what is happening.

Email me and I will send you a copy of the form in a PDF. My solution to the problem!

We will be back!

 in the Spring...

Today’s thought

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” ―Terry Pratchett

Pic of us

Candy took a pic of us last night before Trivia started. Butch helped Reenie catch on to the scoring part of trivia before skipping out on us. We had a great time.

Today the chairman of the Christmas program asked me to do a Christmas-related trivia game as part of the program. She said she is playing cards in another nearby room while trivia is going on and there is always lots of laughter. Many people could relate to her next statement, "We have been playing cards with the same group for many years and I can't let them down to play trivia. But maybe someday."

Eye Appointment

I have had my left eye giving me fits for a while now. If I close my right eye and looked out my left it was not clear at all. And I just did not feel good at all about my vision in that eye. My last exam was well before Covid, so I was due to have the situation evaluated. I hate to even tell you about the outcome of my eye exam at Thurmond Eye Institute yesterday. Dr. Hook told me that laser treatment would not show any significant improvement at this time. He said the lens in my glasses was too strong in my left eye and that if I tried some older glasses that I already have I might see an improvement in my vision for the left eye. He was right! I am wearing some glasses I had from 3 years ago and my vision is much improved! FYI My last prescription was obtained at Wolfe Eye Clinic in Ames. I am not blaming anyone because mistakes can happen to anyone. I am a bit disappointed in myself that I didn't get this figured out on my own. The solution to my problem was in an eye case in my own home all the time.

Dr. Hook also told me that the eye department of the University of Iowa is the best in the nation for eye care. He said he did an interview there once for a job but it was too cold for him. He has never lived any further North than Houston.

Sunday, November 14

One adventure after another.

Yesterday we decided we were not that crazy about getting out of the park on a Saturday. Traffic is far too busy! Sunday isn't bad at all so we did our usual breakfast taco at El Dorado, the same El Dorado that my friend pointed out to me last year is not marked with the name! We have been going there for years and did not realize there was NO SIGN.

Today's adventure does not need to be repeated. I went over to Liz's and we were talking about get-togethers and dates for such when Chico made the discovery that the guest bathroom needed a replacement. I offered Butch's help and tried to call him. My call went straight to voice mail. That is when the adventure started! Is it his phone or mine? For the next 2 hours, this was our focus and I will not bore you with the details but somehow Butch got my number blocked in his phone. Finally, I held my finger down on my name entry in his phone and one of the options that appeared was UNBLOCK. We are back to functioning until the next big adventure.

Oh the fun we have!
