RV Newsletter

Butch and I are featured in this issue of the RV newsletter. In case you want to know, the pic was taken at Jessica's in Nuevo Progreso by a friend and neighbor in Trophy Gardens, Candy Dewey.

3rd Day of Rain...and Cold?

It may not be that long but it seems like FOREVER! Work on the pool hall has come to a screeching halt. We now have to wait till it dries up. Nobody wants to work in the mud and I do not want them to. One of my biggest dislikes about new construction is MUD. This too shall pass as we all know. Another lesson in patience.

We are watching PBS, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video. The NUMBER ONE REASON for this is we do not have to mute through the political ads. Once in a while, we will stray back to the local stations and quickly get reminded that we do not want to be there. Butch is needing to watch mindless TV right now because one of his hearing aids is in the shop for repair. He can not hear important dialogue if we are trying to watch something of substance. Our current show of choice is Sneaky Pete (Amazon Prime)

Good News...I think

Everything seems to be working normally and that is good news. We received news that our window had arrived for the 3 season room so we could take down my makeshift one made from a garbage bag. We now must wait for things to dry up so we can get the outside odds and ends finished on the pool hall and then we can get things started indoors and weather will not be a factor. We did get 2.2 inches of rain. Much needed for people in general. I have known for a good long time I could easily be a desert rat.

My computer and phone are both working as well or better as they were before. It is good to lay your head down at night without a care in the world, and I must say that is true for me most nights and I also know I am a very lucky woman for that to be true. Wishing you all the same.

When it Rains it Pours

Literally and figuratively. It started off with a virus on my computer and it is proof once again that even someone who helps others in this field can get caught in a weak moment. It was the Driver-Fixer virus. It popped up on my computer while my mind was somewhere else and I exed out of it and then of course it kept popping up. So I contacted my virus protection people (Emsisoft) and they helped me get rid of it but it was a long arduous ordeal with many steps. It was one of those things where you had to print out the directions because there were so many steps. This took pages and hours but it was successfully annihilated.

Reminder: When something pops up unexpectedly and it was not initiated by you, do a hard shutdown immediately. Press that power button and hold it down until your computer shuts off. Then when you restart your computer it will be fine and not infected. Don't touch that pop up! Just Sayin'

And then my phone went wonky. Was it related? I am not sure but do not think so. So I have been working with the phone people to get it working correctly. The problem was the date and time kept showing January 22 2001. No matter what I did, and I did plenty, it would go back to that date. Now that might have been something a person could learn to live with but that was just one of the problems. When I texted people my response did not show on my phone and/or it said "message not sent, tap to send again" but of course that did not work. It might work correctly for a few minutes but then $%#@@&^! So the last resort was a factory reset and I did that yesterday. Now in that process, they suggest you remove your apps one by one to see if it was one of the apps causing the problem. I had 41 apps so I removed them all except Google Play. So as of late yesterday, it was still not working. I woke up this morning and it seemed to be okay but then I started working with it and I noticed the Facebook app had come back. I know I deleted it because I do not use Facebook on my phone. Never have, never will. And then I deleted it and Google Play. So now the only apps I have are the ones that come with the phone from the factory.

And then Butch got a phone call that a check he had written for cement work had not arrived and it had been a month. So a very large check is floating around in the postal system. He checked his account and it had not been cashed so he stopped payment on it and will issue them a new one.

That is three so we hope we are done. Oh yes, it did start raining and it is still raining and cold. The thermometer has been stuck on 44 for the last 18 hours. Enough already!!
