Simply Walking and taking pics

Thanks, Deon for telling me about the Simply Walking app. Today I walked 1.53 miles and took a few pics. And here they are...
I ran into Liz doing what she does and in so doing I was introduced to Sharon and Gus.

When I went by the golf course Butch and Dave happened to be in range for some photos.

 And here is my Christmas Cactus. It has recovered nicely from the trip.
 Traveling is hard on plants.

Turkey for two (repost)

I have purchased my turkey roast for this year. And my stuffing mix. And here is a reposting of the famous Turkey for Two recipe.

Turkey for Two
Did you have a meal with friends and family on the holiday and miss all the turkey and dressing leftovers at your house? Or there are just the two of you and you do not want to cook a big ol' turkey for two people. I discovered an easy way to have it all. Grease the sides of your crockpot or use one of those nifty slow cooker liners ( I swear by the liners). Place a small package of dry stuffing mix in the bottom. Sprinkle with a 1/2 cup of water or chicken broth. Slice an onion and dice a celery stalk and layer on top of stuffing. Place a thawed Butterball 3 pound turkey roast (found in your grocer's freezer) on top of celery and onion. Cook on low all day or high for 4-5 hours and you have the best of both worlds. A scrumptious turkey dinner for two with some for leftovers if you are moderate eaters.

Produce wagon

Thursday is the day the produce wagon comes into the park and it parks right behind us. I bought some fat carrots and a white radish.

First Trivia night and other stuff

Tuesday night was the first trivia night and we had two people. That is a start albeit a tiny one. However, we did proceed and now I have two ambassadors to help me spread the word. They both had a good time and even though it was a small seed to start I do believe it will grow. Keep in mind, they are not familiar with me, the format or the fun it can be. When I did this at Magnolia last January it started off slow there too.
So finally I am back to walking and feeling good about it. Right now the weather is not a factor as it is mild. 70's mostly. So, therefore, I can choose a time to walk without discrimination. As the temperature rises that will change.
Last night we went to a birthday party for Dave. Here is the birthday boy pouring a drink for Fred.

The food was excellent but if I keep eating like this I will have to be rolled back to Iowa.

Caught my eye

I finally was able to get my walk in and I took full advantage. I did get a slow start. When I first started I could feel a toe rubbing and thought uh oh I am working on a blister so I came back home and on the way, I heard these guys playing and singing and they sounded very good and since I knew Bruce I stopped to take a few pics.
C. Randy Parks and Bruce Johnston- C.Randy has a website if you want to check it out. www.reverbnation.com/crandyparks and Randy's son also has a site and he is in Nashville

www.honkytonkdave.com and Randy told me all of his son's songs were written by him.

So then I continued on my return trip, doctored my toe and shed a jacket and took off once again.

Blue sky and yellow flowers always make a good photo.

These folks that live beside these grapefruit are not here yet. Sure hope they have a hunger for it.

There are several of these homes here where they started out as a simple trailer and had the roof put on later. It does wonders to dress a place up

I particularly like this quilt design.

Simple but classy Christmas decoration.

This one is more elaborate

  Another angle on our little patch.

Good to have a plan

Desiderata means “things that are desired,” and Ehrmann said he wrote it for himself, “because it counsels those virtues I felt most in need of.”

Though Desiderata was not considered a popular work during Ehrmann’s lifetime, it rose in popularity during the late ’60s and early ’70s. Today, it is making a strong comeback, as parents and grandparents are passing along this wisdom to their loved ones

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,

and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender

be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly;

and listen to others,

even the dull and the ignorant;

they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,

they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,

you may become vain and bitter;

for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble

it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs;

for the world is full of trickery.

But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;

many persons strive for high ideals;

and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.

Especially, do not feign affection.

Neither be cynical about love;

for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment

it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,

gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,

be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,

no less than the trees and the stars;

you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,

no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,

whatever you conceive Him to be,

and whatever your labors and aspirations,

in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,

it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful.

Strive to be happy.
