We also went to the Precious Moments Chapel and surrounding area. It is a beautiful and well kept place. We plan to take a closer look if we have time while we are here.
Then we stopped at the Civil War Museum. Carthage certainly cultivates its rich history.
After that we took a driving tour around Carthage looking over victorian houses. We also stopped at the Kendrick house which was the only house left standing in Carthage after a civil war battle.
Yesterday with new friends Harold and Elaine Lindeman we went on a sightseeing tour stopping first at the George Washington Carver Birthsite. We were either unaware or had forgotten that he had Iowa connections having attended Simpson College and Iowa State.
I discovered how to play Twenty Questions online. It is remarkably clever -- you might think you're just about to stump it when suddenly it gives you the correct answer! Have fun ... but don't start playing if you've got to leave the house anytime soon!
