What am I doing...

I looked back to 2017 to see what I was doing a year ago and became immersed in the memories of it.
It was very similar to this year. We will be leaving about the same time and getting back to Jefferson about the same time. What prompted the look back was a discussion Butch and I was having about it.
We will be keeping a close eye on the weather. We have the freedom to delay or push up a leaving time if it will make for better weather to travel. Right now it is looking good here. I haven't paid too much attention ahead of us yet. We will be taking the same route as last year, stopping this time at the Linders in Canyon Lake TX for a day or two. We always have fun with the Linders. Actually, everyone has fun with the Linders. They are those kind of people.

The park has pretty much emptied. By the time we leave there will be very few residents still here. Mostly the year-round people. Our friends Bill and Kay will be leaving the same day we do because of a family wedding in Minnesota and Donn and Peg plan to leave a week after.

I am slowly plugging away at getting the moho ready for travel, making sure things are secured in cupboards, that we have made all the purchases of favorite things only available here, one more Mexico trip, etc, etc.
So now you know!!

Jefferson police report

Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Jefferson police department:
Monday, March 26: At 1:25 am a complainant reported his neighbor was outside in the yard screaming at a residence in the 500 block of S. Walnut St. The officer made contact with the neighbor, who advised he was outside singing. The officer advised him to go inside and sing.

At 12:58 pm a complainant reported unauthorized use of her debit card. The bank holding the card had closed the account and reversed the charges. At 4:27 pm a subject in Oregon called the LEC to report the government was covering up a murder, which occurred in Jefferson years prior. He advised the government was controlling nationwide school shootings, etc. The officer contacted local authorities in Oregon, who are familiar with the caller. They were going to conduct a welfare check there.

And we think things have been goofy around here!!??

Slightly reflective

I cannot remember the last time it rained. I think it was sometime in December so I could say not since last year. We are supposed to get rain today and it may be in the form of severe thunderstorms. Rain in whatever form will be welcome. The air needs a good cleaning. We have had lots of wind, typical of Spring no matter where you are, I think. In the blowing of all things, the dirt, dust, and pollen in the air have been abundant and seemingly incessant. And bothering the heck out of me and my sinuses! Every time I go outside, it gets worse so a cleansing rain will be very welcome.

The end of the season is here and many people have already left. It has been a season of many changes. I think the mood of the country is one thing that does trickle down and it has been chaotic and unsettling on many levels. If things remain the same there is no light at the end of the tunnel...yet. So we are waiting to see what happens and then react to it in a way that works for us.

We are at a point here where the activities have slowed down so Butch and I have been hanging out more with each other and venturing outside the park to interesting places like HEB, Costco, Dairy Queen, Progreso Mexico and checking out other parks. We have been quite good at entertaining ourselves and each other for 59 years now.

12 more days here and then we will be slowly heading north. Sure wish we could see a warming trend up that way before we get to Iowa. It will be great reconnecting with family and old friends.
