As the weather cools...

Thoughts of heading south start creeping in. Realistically we know it is far too early and we won't get serious about it until mid-October for certain. So many things have transpired since we came back in April; trying to blend the possessions in the motorhome with those already in the house, selling the motorhome, buying the car and those are the big things! I still have too many possessions that I wish were at least out of mind. I like to live a sparse life and currently, it is not quite sparse enough.

The pool hall has turned into a proud possession with many friends both old and new helping us enjoy it. Trivia night on Thursdays is still happening with 10 to 15 participants. It ebbs and flows but there always seem to be enough players.

Butch and I are faithfully in the pool hall at 4:00 each day, mostly just the two of us and that's okay too. My game has greatly improved and I am ever more capable of giving Butch a challenge now and then. Consistency has been somewhat elusive however when I look back I can see the progress I have made and I hope to continue. I look forward to pool hall time each day.

Till next time...

Company Came

Yesterday we enjoyed the company of Bill and Bev Gunderson from Atlantic IA. We ate at the new eating establishment on the square, The Centennial. It is located in the place where the Tea Garden used to be and it is being run in a similar manner by different people. The meal was terrific but the topper was the cake. One serving was large enough for all four of us!! The cake alone was worth the stop.

Bill and Bev were friends of ours all the years we golfed at Nishna Hills and add to that we square danced together and belonged to the same bridge club. So they were deeply entrenched in our everyday lives. It was so good to spend the day with them. We even played a few hands of Bridge.

Randy Clark Memorial Tournament

It is held at the Nishna Hills Golf Course in Atlantic IA-our old stomping ground for 20 + years. Randy passed in 2020(not from covid). I usually stay home but Sherri's friend Sam and I decided to follow our players around the course this year. It was a good time and passed quickly.

It was also the maiden voyage of our new car. Jason and Butch worked on the many aspects of the car and figured out a thing or two. There is more to figure out and I will be getting acquainted soon. To maintain peace in the family it is best that Butch get acquainted first.

Back to the tournament... they shot a 65 and came in second in the 2nd flight. All pars and birdies. So respectable.

Gary scoping out the situation.

Jason takes a putt.

Butch and Sherri are done with that hole...

Sherri putts and Butch and Jason are getting a line on the ball.

When you see this sort of view on the golf course it means someone has lost a ball.

Sherri is lining up to tee off.

A refreshing sight on a warm day.
