Warmed up some

It warmed up some today- enough to be outside with just one sweatshirt. I have been wearing two and a coat whenever I ventured out the last 3 days. I know that many of you reading this think that borders on ridiculous but after you have fully acclimated to continual warmth it makes it difficult to tolerate much cold. Think about a day in July in the upper Midwest where the weather has turned dark, temperatures hovering in the low 60's and it is raining. It feels doggone cold out there because you have become accustomed to it being warm, wearing shorts and never needing a coat. That is where we are right now. But it is looking up. The sun will come out and the temps will rise once again...and much sooner than it will several hundred miles north of here.

In Hibernation

We have an aversion to cold weather and that is why we come to sunny South Texas. It isn't warm and we are on day 3 of it. I do not like it. 3 days is one too many. I have managed to get lots of indoor things accomplished but we are now ready for the sunshine and warmth to return.
Yesterday I made a bracelet for Eleanor P. but it quickly got to the point where I needed a measurement. I could not muster the want-to to go get it. It can wait till it warms up.
Susan V/H bought a new computer and I helped her get it set up...at my house. That was fun and I did enjoy that. I wonder now and then why I like doing that so much. I think it is because it is all new and I like helping them get off on the right foot so they can enjoy easy and trouble free computing and perhaps enjoy it as much as I do. I was surprised because when we started it up the only icon on it was the recycle bin. Usually there are bunches of stuff to get rid of but not so this time. That was a real time saver. She was up and going in no time. Simplified and streamlined. Could it be that computer manufacturers and Microsoft have finally got it right? Too early to say but it looks hopeful. We started her off with Avast Free home edition for her anti-virus after taking off Norton. We downloaded www.openoffice.org to give her the free edition of the equivalent of Microsoft Office. We downloaded Mozilla Firefox because she is used to it and likes it. She already had Google Chrome and Internet Explorer so didn't need to do anything there although I would not have anyway. We were able to sign her in to www.igoogle.com so she once again had access to her gmail and her home page. She did not lose her email addresses because they were all waiting online for her in her gmail account. By having gmail she can also search old mail to find things she may want again. We downloaded Picasa 3 at www.picasa.com so when she gets started with pictures again she can save them to online albums and save them in case of a future computer malfunction. I know it seems like something you do not need to think about with a new computer but backup should always be something to think about. The only thing that might slow her up is not having her favorites/bookmarks but often times if you can search your old mail,as she can with gmail she can locate websites that she has visited and marked. At any rate it was a good time for me and she is up and going once again.
Smileycons!
Now we are waiting for warm...65 on Friday...that is a start.

2 Day

Butch's cold is better. He still had a rough night and doubled up on his meds. This morning he tried out for the Senior Olympics in pool. Didn't make it. He is not a morning person and what with his cold and all it isn't too surprising. He is now gathering up his tools to install a new plug-in on the outside of Allen Hall. This will be a big help to the Steak Fry guys.
The big bracelet event is this afternoon. 38 total are signed up. It cannot be more than that because I have exactly 38 kits made up. It should be interesting. Some did not get in that wanted in so will probably do another one at a later time. If possible there will be a picture later today.
