Well, maybe not but funny nonetheless...

Helpful Resource
As many of you know I taught beginning computer classes for many years, both at the senior center I managed in Cumberland IA and at the park in Texas we went to for nearly 20 years. My beginnings in the computing world began way back in 1998. That's a guess. I went to Colorado, along in those years somewhere, to visit my friend Mickey who then was working for the federal government in a computing capacity. She was working while I was there and so I was left with her computer at her home while she was working. She showed me some basic things about it and assured me I could not mess it up bad enough that she couldn't fix it and I took her at her word. My son Gary had tried before to get me interested in having a computer but I couldn't grasp the need...until the Internet and that is where Mickey's focus was. So it all clicked into place. It wasn't long after returning to Iowa that I ordered a computer from Gateway. Remember Gateway? I sure do because along with a purchase they offered 24/7 tech support and I thoroughly used it! I remember taking my computer apart, and phone to my ear to get the info I needed for the next step. I remember adding more RAM more than once. I did not know at the time, the million or so ways that a computer and more importantly the Internet (netins.net) would change my life. I connected to the Internet through the local phone company. Due to my interest, the phone company sent me to DesMoines for instructions from Netins about the Internet and how it all worked. I was then off and running!
One of the aspects in my early roaming around the internet was finding stationery for email. I thought it was way cool and used it all the time. And that was my introduction to: https://www.thundercloud.net/infoave/new/ and Cloudeight Info Ave. And this brings me to today's entry of their beginning intertwined with mine.

When I have a problem with my Computer/Internet, this is where I go. When someone asks me for computer-related assistance and I know it is beyond my skill level, this is where I point them. They are inexpensive, knowledgeable, and tenacious in getting the job done.
PS: This is also where I get my anti-malware/antivirus protection too. None better and the price is right.

Not too trivial...
We had a full house last night for trivia. It was fun as it always is. We had four new people and 3 regulars who couldn't make it. It is funny how these things always work out. The ladies and Glen beat the fellas but it does swing back and forth. It is never completely one-sided.
I would still like a different night devoted to games such as 65 or fast track. I looked up the rules to 65 and printed them out. Playing these games infrequently makes it easy to forget the details of play.
Butch and I have been chipping away at the many things needed to be done around here and for a change, we feel like we have an upper hand. We have done the outside things in between hot spells. This weekend is setting up to be another triple-digit one.
I have been slack on taking photos but here are a few taken recently. An old satellite dish makes a great birdbath. This one has been serving that purpose for the past 8 years.

Brain Fog?
Last winter both Butch and I tested positive for Covid. We were fully vaccinated and boosted and our symptoms were not all that bad; like a mild cold and even that went away in about 3 days...but then I started noticing "Brain Fog". This is pretty much what it looks like.
At first, I didn't think too much about it...no pun intended, but then it seemed to worsen! So I googled it of course to see how long I might have to put up with this and the best of the worst news was that it could be 6 months or more. I was about on month three at that point. So I tried to put it on the back burner with a modicum of success.
Life goes on as they say and like most handicaps, you learn to adapt and live with it. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and trivia night. One of our players is a whiz on Iowa trivia. I don't use much Iowa trivia because I also use my questions in Texas. Denny asked if he could ask an Iowa question at the end of the evening and I said of course!
I may not have the question exact. "Trivia question-if the sun rises at 6:00 AM in "Dubuque" IA, how long before the sun rises in Sioux City IA?" Answer: 23 minutes later
The answer just rolled off my tongue and Denny's jaw dropped! I had read this question and answer a week or so prior to his asking it. It was the exact moment I knew that my brain fog had lifted! And ever since that wonderful moment, I have been ever so grateful when my brain functions in its usual and normal way.
Lately, there has been an uptick in the number of Covid cases in the USA and it seems that I hear of a new case of it from someone I know every day! Most of these cases seem to have the factor of travel in it. So Butch and I have returned to wearing a mask when we are out in public. It is a simple thing to do and it may not work but at least I can then feel that I have done all I could.
Stay safe and keep your head about you!

It happens...
Every now and then a snafu will happen when I put a post together and I will discover too late that the links may not do what I hope they should and if I hit the publish button before I have tested them all out it can turn into a mess. A minor mess but still a mess. So now you know what happened to my last post.
Moving on...
Last Thursday at Trivia we talked about good stuff to watch on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Someone said they couldn't find anything on Amazon anymore. I couldn't believe it because 'My List' has oodles of stuff I haven't watched yet but hope to someday. I do find that going to the different sites on my computer instead of the TV works better for me in choosing stuff. I find it easier to check things out. I have decided to make a list of things I have set aside and share them with you. I am aware that tastes differ but surely I can find something we both might like.
So I started a list for Amazon Prime. We have Amazon firesticks on our TV's not sure if that makes it easier or not. But we do not pay a cable company or satellite company for our TV viewing pleasure. It all comes to us straight off the Internet. Different strokes for different folks as they say! Okay back to my list! I had to quit. My hand was getting tired of writing all of them down and it became exceedingly long.
