Progress Report

With Russ on vacation not much progress is happening on the exterior but Butch and I have been busy little beavers on the interior. The carsiding has two coats of sealer (Boiled Linseed Oil). Both doors have been painted and Butch installed the ceiling fan.  We are ready to prep the floor and then lay the tile. Prep will happen today and hopefully flooring goes down tomorrow. Perhaps the furniture in there the day after that.
Gary and Lou were still here when this was taken and Gary helped get the old siding off the north side (closet area). It didn't look bad from a distance but the siding was cheap, rotten stuff that you could poke your finger through in places so we thought it was a good time to tackle replacement with the same cement siding we put on the 3 season room.

Gary and Lou's 5th wheel. The spot looked so empty after they were gone.

This is the current status of the closet area.

All that is left now is the floor

On down the road...

Gary and Lou have moved on down the road as full time RVers are wont to do. We very much appreciated having them here. More was accomplished in one weeks time than has taken place all summer. It was a blessing having them here and a very unexpected happening too. We are extremely grateful. Our backyard looks empty now.
About the backyard...many of you know about our frustration in having the alley blocked by our uncooperative homeowner to the south of us. The alley is abandoned so he does have the right to block it. It is being a bad neighbor to do so however. The blockage to the alley was moved last Wednesday. We do not know why or for how long but we are grateful for that as well.
Russ is off on vacation this next week. The good news is the room interior is finished as far as Russ's part is concerned. Butch and I will do the things that remain on the inside. Russ has a few details to take care of on the outside before I can begin painting. He was going to come work on caulking so I could paint while he was gone but a thunderstorm changed that plan. Neither Butch nor I are any good at caulking so it will have to wait...unless there is someone reading this who would be good at it and like to help us out? I didn't think so.
We are further advanced than these photos show. More pictures later...

Tidbits of this and that

This poster showed up in my inbox recently and it is the same one I am sure I saw on the wall in a barbershop in Nuevo Progreso Mexico. A blast from the past!!

Our friends Randy and Sherri Clark gave us this stained glass hanging for a Thank you/housewarming gift. It will look beautiful in the new room. Pictured here in its temporary home.

Yesterday we went to Roger Conants home near Winkleman's switch. Roger's late wife Sharon was my cousin and this gathering is basically her branch of the family. Fun to see everyone. My sister Theresa and my niece Karla also attended. I enjoyed every minute of the day.

Before Butch became swamped with our summer project he did a few jobs for some of my single friends. Butch helped Sue Durlam Lucht put together this potting shed. It came together in a wonderful way.
