Easy Danish Pastry
1 package (12 rolls) of King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
1/2 cup melted butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 egg, beaten
Watch the video for a full demo of how it is done, but here are the basic steps to making easy cheese Danish:
Spray a baking dish with cooking spray and place the rolls in.
Next, take a serrated knife and cut a small square in the top of the rolls, about halfway down through the roll.
Mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Use a pastry brush to brush the surface of the rolls, including the cutout part.
Cream together cream cheese and sugar. Beat in egg. You can use a fork for all of this—no need for an electric mixer.
Pour the cream cheese filling into the cutout holes in the rolls, filling them all the way to the top.
Bake at 375 F for about 12-15 minutes. Let rest for 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
I may try this in a weak moment. If you try it let me know what you think.
