We got up bright and early to drive to the UTRGV for Butch's second shot. His "appointment" was at 8:00 am. It was a sacrifice but he was sure it would go very quickly and we would be back home in short order. Not exactly. We arrived early (7:45 AM) and there was already a line. Another aspect was the cold and we were not dressed appropriately. Who would know you had to in South Texas?! It was 51 degrees with a breeze and we did not have jackets. I went back to the car so Butch could hold his place in line and come back with his golf jacket out of his golf bag. He put it on and then hugged me from the back to keep us both a bit warmer. We waited for what seemed a very long time. 30 to 45 minutes. The line became all the way around the building and into the parking lot. There were very few seniors in the lines. It was mostly young people and they too were getting their second shot. They had opened up the state to anyone over 16 being eligible. The only reason it affected us at all was that Butch was in the hospital when he was originally scheduled for his second one. It seemed longer because of the cold. This time of year early morning temps are usually around 65 so we were caught off guard. It all went well. We waited 15 minutes and then went to McDonald's for a breakfast sandwich.
So now we both have both Pfizer vaccines. We were enjoying our breakfast about 9:30 AM.
Butch is doing well in his recovery. He is resuming his pool playing, walking with the guys on the golf course. Putting but not playing. Eating well. All is good.
