Ostrasized

Sad but true story. Mr. and Mrs. John Doe for some unknown reason decided to get a covid test on Thursday, January 21st. They then went about their business doing all the activities available to them within the RV park, specifically the sewing room and the main hall, perhaps the swimming pool, and who knows what else. On Monday they received word that they were positive for Covid. They did not change their routine much although they did tell some people they came in contact with and said, "Keep your distance. I have Covid." They told one of their neighbors after a few days and she was the whistleblower. The rumor mill was busy and by Thursday the 29th a full week after getting tested, word got up to management. Management called the Does and asked if it were true and they verified that it was. Heads started to roll. We are on lockdown. All activities are suspended including the pool hall and the golf course. This will be the way it is for 10 days unless we are unlucky enough to have another positive case within the park come to light. The irresponsibility and/or stupidity is unbelievable. This IOWA couple now has 398 people angry with them. More than that really because this also affects our sister park next door.

We personally do not know these people and as far as we know have not had direct contact. The indirect contact is the worrisome part as those of us with functioning brain cells are well aware. Time will tell. We feel like we are back at the beginning.

So we are settling in for a long winter's nap, knuckling down and being ever more diligent. Our bubble of safety became even smaller.

Continued: I didn't post this right away not knowing if management would see it and be upset by it, however, these two are being seen all over the park in their golf cart and their car is frequently missing from their parking spot. So quarantine and isolation are also beyond their understanding. If I can educate even one person about what is expected of them if they have a positive test I am happy to do so.

They were asked, not the right word, TOLD to stay isolated for 10 days. Many people offered to get them anything they needed thinking they were sick. The problem was they were asymptomatic, another very big word they do not take seriously. Unfortunately they have labeled themselves and forevermore will be remembered for this one stupid action. At least in this part of Texas.
