Brrr...

After many years of traveling South in the winter, the bite of winter is quickly forgotten until it finds its way close to the southern border. It used to be a rare thing, but with climate change, that is no longer true.

Way back when, I would pack one pair of jeans in case the weather cooled off or for the trip down and back. Now I pack plenty of options for cold weather. When a person is not acclimated, it can be quite miserable. And here we are! In the middle of a prolonged stretch of unfriendly weather. Yesterday it was around 80 degrees, and I used the golf cart to go to the main hall to help with a rehearsal for a comedy presentation on Monday. Suddenly, the outside temperature dropped like a rock, accompanied by a biting north wind. It's about a 3 to 4 block ride from the hall to my home, and I drove faster than I ever have! My hands were numb by the time I got home. I also had left the house open with the 80 degrees it had been at noon. It didn't take long for me to get everything winterized.

It feels so closed off...but cozy.
